Multimedia Lab

The College offers students and faculty robust electronic and computing resources in conjunction with IIT’s Office of Technology Services (OTS). There is wireless access in all College controlled spaces. The CoA continues to provide wired network connections when appropriate for student and faculty use and all faculty offices, studio spaces, the library and CoA computer labs are hard-wired.

CoA has two dedicated computer labs. Lab 1 in Crown Hall has 34 workstation-class desktop computers; and Lab 2 in Tech North has 29 workstation class desktop computers. Each lab contains a range of small and large format color printers, as well as scanners.

Computing equipment and software is generally managed centrally by the university. Hardware not associated with the Universities Office of Technology Services (OTS) managed labs, are purchased by the college through a central purchasing office. Software needs are assessed yearly by select faculty and the OTS Team. Software is primarily secured in large license blocks with programs required for the exclusive use of the College of Architecture licensed directly to the college. Printing and plotting resources are provided and managed by the university as part of the computing labs.

The multimedia labs are open during regular business hours and accessible via student ID’s after hours and weekends.

Photo Room

The College maintains a room specifically designed for students to set up and shoot model photos. The photo room key is available for check out during regular office hours and can also be checked out overnight.
