2024 Spring Lecture Series: Michael Rojkind
The IIT College of Architecture is honored to welcome noted Mexico City-based architect Michel Rojkind for a lecture Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Lower Center Core. Michel joins us this year as co-chair of the 2024 Victor A. Morgenstern Family Visiting Chair in Architecture with the College’s long-time friend, alumnus, and founder/director of MAS Context, Iker Gil.
Rojkind Arquitectos, established in 2002, is a creative studio of design, business tactics, and experiential innovation based in Mexico City. They are committed to creating designs that are not only innovative in terms of programming while adapting digital design to local crafts, but also consider the impact they have on the people and communities they serve.
Michel is part of the remarkable generation of Mexican architects that include this year’s MCHAP winner Mauricio Rocha, Tatiana Bilbao, Alberto Kalach, Productora (also MCHAP winners), and more. Forbes magazine named him “one of the most influential architects of contemporary Mexican scene” in 2013. He is a graduate of the Universidad Iberoamericana. He has taught at SCIARC in Los Angeles and Barcelona’s IACC, has lectured around the world, and was one of the Architectural League of New York’s Emerging Voices in 2010.
