Dean, Rowe Family College of Architecture Endowed Chair
In addition to his role as dean of the College of Architecture, Reed Kroloff has been a leader in the fields of architecture, urbanism, and design for more than 25 years.
He has managed top design programs; edited Architecture, then the profession’s leading design publication; spoken at gatherings such as TED and the Aspen Design Conference; and advised architects and clients on some of the most significant projects of the last 20 years, leading The New York Times to describe him as “the man with the list at architecture’s party.”
Prior to his arrival at Illinois Institute of Architecture, Kroloff served as the director of the renowned Cranbrook Academy of Art and Art Museum in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and as dean of Tulane University School of Architecture in New Orleans, which he led through Hurricane Katrina and the city’s recovery. While he served as editor-in-chief of Architecture, the magazine received more awards for editorial and design excellence than any publication of its type and quickly became the nation’s leading design publication.
