Associate Teaching Professor, Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Advising
Kathy Nagle is an Associate Teaching Professor and Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Academic Advising in the College of Architecture.
For the majority of the 25+ years that she has taught in the Bachelor of Architecture program, Kathy was the Coordinator of the first-year design studio. In recognition of her teaching and curriculum development, she was a co-recipient of the AIA Education Honor Award, and she received the IIT College of Architecture Excellence in Teaching Award in 2009. She has co-authored several papers for NCBDS Beginning Design conferences.
Kathy continues to teach in the first-year curriculum while assuming an administrative role for academic advising. She sees academic advising is an extension of her interest in beginning design pedagogy and desire to support students through their academic trajectories.
A graduate of Williams College with a major in Art History, Kathy received her Master of Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. She has a particular interest in Chicago architectural history and has enjoyed exploring Chicago neighborhoods while contributing to all four editions of the AIA Guide to Chicago.
