Assistant Professor
Dillon Pranger is an Assistant Professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he directs the Deconstruction/Reconstruction Lab, an interdisciplinary research group whose work lies in sustainable building material recovery methods and circular construction techniques.
Pranger is co-editor of The Architecture of Waste: Design for a Circular Economy (Routledge 2021), a twofold publication that questions the traditional role of the architect and challenges the discipline to address urgent material issues within the larger design process.
As a licensed architect, Pranger is the founder and sole principal of ODP (Office of Dillon Pranger), an award-winning architecture and design practice located in Chicago, IL. ODP’s work focuses on small-scale project types that respond to their local context by considering material, labor, and energy lifecycles as an integral part of the design process.
Pranger holds a B.S. in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati and an M. Arch. from Cornell University where he was awarded the Henry Adams Certificate and Richmond Herold Shreve Award for distinguished work in an architectural thesis. In 2023 his practice was awarded the prestigious Silver Medal for Best Young Architect through The Architect’s Newspaper. His design work has been featured extensively in the 2024 + 2023 Architizer A+ Awards, 2023 Rethinking the Future Awards, 2022 Tallinn Architecture Biennale, Residential Design vol. 2, Architect Magazine, The Van Alen Institute, and Princeton Architectural Press’ 2021 Posters for the Planet. Pranger has previously taught at institutions including Cornell University, Harvard GSD, and Syracuse University.
